Considering the prices you charge, it would have been nice if my "toasted teacake" was actually toasted rather than warmed up bread.
Awful Awful Awful, just gone to the drive through, ask for a toastie, 20mins later got two slices of bread part tostied (not in a toster machine) with cold filling, not cut in half, no napkins, ridiculous price, will never go back and will tell everyone I know. Not acceptable.
Sat inside to eat. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable about gluten free diet. Lovely mushroom and tomato sandwich and latte. Always recommended
Filled the spot
Decided to try Merrie England in Oakes
When I arrived the car park (arrived 10:45am) was chaos - didn’t realise they did a drive through and there was a queue from the road into the car park .
Found a car parking spot and went inside. Loads of places to sit and as I approached the counter the assistant provided a menu
I was a little disappointed as I was really wanting an all day breakfast - I thought it was the kind of place that did that! So I opted for the breakfast bun - sausage, bacon, egg, tomato and mushroom.
When it arrived I needed a knife and fork -they’d only provided a knife
- so had to queue to get a fork
The contents were cold and the bacon was too hard to cut or chew
So didn’t bother finishing it as I want enjoying it
Started on my bannoffee pie
Base rock hard but topping delicious - guess you can’t have everything!
Not sure I’d be in a hurry to come back
Brilliant cafe. Merrie England is a very welcoming, cosy place for a catch up and good food. The staff here are very polite and the service is rapid.
Merrie England are also taking all the right precautions against Covid-19 and so I would recommend it to anyone in the area.
Lovely place where nothing has changed in 50 years apart from the now ridiculous pricing of some items. £4.55 for a piece of apple pie & £1.50 for some cream. Really !!! It makes enough to warrant some kind of price reduction
Always busy because of the great food and great service. The hot roast beef sandwich with gravy is to die for. If you get the chance, try it.
Turkey seasoning with pickled onion and mayo...the portion is amazing!
fab place to spend time with family that still love the old decor the cakes that are on offer are to die for overall very warm and such a great environment to chill and have a brew.
